Yes we have our very own pipe and drum corps
The Pipes and Drums of the Emerald Society were formed on the 7th May 2006 as part of the Metropolitan Police Emerald Society. We are a full bagpipe band that plays traditional Scottish and Irish music as well as tunes from around the world. The band has performed all over Europe to both large crowds and smaller state and business events. Most band memebrs are not in fact serving police officers apart from our Pipe Major Joe and some retired officers. Anyone can join as long as you are of good character and are keen to learn and take part so get in touch.
Visit the gallery section of this site to see the band in action
Every Wednesday 7PM-9PM Police Training Centre, Colindale N.London
We have taught complete beginners who now form the main core of the band

I am a retired officer and didn't pick up the practice chanter never mind the bagpipes til my early 50s. I had an idea about the rudaments before coming along to my first practice. I was very quickly made to feel welcome and given a structured learning programme which was easy to stick to when doing home practice. I have now mastered all the marching tunes and take an active part in helping to run the band.
